There are a few different ways women can adjust to this new norm, including lifestyle changes and medication intervention. Included below are also mental health resources in the area.

Lifestyle Changes

The following lifestyle changes can help with the symptoms of menopause:

  • Regular exercise helps to improve mood and sleep quality.

  • A balanced diet that is rich in calcium and vitamin D helps to support bone health.

  • Stress management techniques like yoga or meditation can be beneficial for mental and physical health.

  • Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and creating a restful environment also works to assist with mental and physical health.

Doctors Can Help

Seeing a doctor can help with hot flash and mood swing reductions along with vaginal dryness.

  • Hormone treatment

    • Taken to replace the estrogen the body stops making after menopause.

  • Non-hormonal treatments

    • If the patient cannot take hormone medications or chooses not to, there are other medication options.

    • Acupuncture- thought to help reduce hot flashes, night sweats, and mood changes.
